Un hombre llamado Cătălin, más conocido como Cat, está sentado en el autobús. Sus ojos, totalmente concentrados en las páginas del viejo libro que sostiene, leen con atención. La tragedia que casi arruinó su vida aún la siente como si hubiera sucedido ayer.

Su novia francesa, Camille, está muerta, dejando un vacío profundo que él no puede llenar. Su risa fue una melodía que llenó su vida, pero se fue demasiado pronto. Cat quiere seguir adelante, pero le resulta difícil. El dolor del incidente es tan fuerte que no puede escapar de él.

En el autobús, Cat comienza a rezarle a la imagen de la Virgen María que usa como marcador en su libro. Pide a la Virgen por paz y una señal de que el dolor que siente desaparecerá. Como si alguien escuchara su súplica, una peonía blanca aparece en el asiento a su lado.

Una mujer rubia, sentada frente a Cat, mira la peonía y comienza a hablar con él. Tiene un acento marcado, claramente alemán, y se presenta: su nombre es Anneliese von Falkenstein. Cat empieza a hablar con Anneliese, primero con algo de temor, pero luego la conversación fluye de manera natural, como si se conocieran desde siempre.

Aunque el autobús está lleno de gente, con el motor rugiendo y los frenos chirriando, Cat escucha una suave campanada que parece atravesar todo el ruido. Esa campanada le susurra que todo se ha resuelto, que por fin su corazón puede sanar y abrirse a un nuevo capítulo de su vida junto a Anneliese.

His French girlfriend, Camille, is dead, leaving a deep void he can’t fill. Su risa era una melodía que una vez llenó su vida, pero se había ido demasiado pronto. Cat quiere seguir adelante, pero le resulta  difícil. El dolor del incidente es tan fuerte que no puede escapar de él.

A man named Cătălin, better known as Cat, is sitting on the bus. His eyes, fully focused on the pages of the old book he is holding, read attentively. The tragedy that almost ruined his life still feels as if it had happened yesterday.

His French girlfriend, Camille, is dead  leaving a deep void he can’t fill. Her laughter was a melody that once filled his life, but she died too soon. Cat wants to move forward, but he finds it difficult. The pain from the incident is so strong that he can’t escape it.

On the bus, Cat begins praying to the image of the Virgin Mary that he uses as a bookmark in his book. He asks the Virgin for peace and a sign that the pain he feels will disappear. As if someone hears his plea, a white peony appears on the seat beside him.

Cat starts talking to Anneliese, first with some fear, but then the conversation flows naturally, as if they had known each other forever.
